Aamir Khan is a perfectionist, but the perfection doesn’t come easy. The actor has gone through a lot of hard work, difficulties and inconvenience to achieve the kind of stardom he enjoys today.
Aamir, who stars in wife Kiran Rao’s debut film ‘Dhobi Ghaat’, had to shoot a few scenes at Mumbai’s densely populated Bhendi Bazaar. He was required to shoot at the location for 3 days but looking at the inconvenience the entire commuting would have caused, the actor decided to put up at a small house in the locality.
Aamir recalls that he shifted there in the silence of the night around 3 am so that no body could spot him. Also, whenever he had to go out somewhere, he used to hide himself in a burqa to avoid being recognized and mobbed.
Aamir narrates a funny incident that took place during his stay in the small house in Bhendi Bazaar. “While we were shooting ‘Dhobi Ghaat’ at Bhendi Bazaar, we were also working out on the promotional plans for ‘3 Idiots’,” recollects the Khan.
He further tells us, “Vidhu (Vinod Chopra) and Raju (Hirani) used to visit everyday to discuss the publicity plans but since there was no room for us to sit due to the on-going shooting, we had to park ourselves in the bathroom. Vidhu used to sit on the potty seat while I, Raju and others used to turn the buckets upside down and sit on them.”
Though a difficult time, Aamir counts the time as some of his fondest moments.
