With Dabangg breaking box-office records, Salman Khan has bounced back in a big way. Now the battle for the No 2 ranking has narrowed down to a three-horse race between Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan. While Aamir Khan is way ahead and is undisputed at his No 1 ranking after giving two back-to-back blockbusters in the form of Ghajini and 3 Idiots, all eyes will be on Shah Rukh’s Ra.1 and Don 2. These movies will be a big acid test for Shah Rukh to maintain his No 2 ranking. While Hrithik has Guzaarish slated to release in November and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that will hit the theatres next year, Salman has Ready and Bodyguard in his kitty. With Dabangg’s stupendous success, Salman has raised the stakes in the numbers game, so there is huge pressure on both Shah Rukh at No 2 and Hrithik at No 3 to deliver at the box-office in a big way.
3 Idiots, Dabangg and now Endhiran-The Robot have changed the rules of the game and with more and more audiences flocking to the theatres, it is a good time for the world’s largest film industry. Let’s hope that this trend continues for a long time.
